Solid “hole in the wall” type location with a great back patio and awesome sandwiches. Got “The Fritz” which is basically just everything they have on a sandwich.

The Garage was the first place my Hubby brought me when we first started dating. It was once where the affluent of the Highlands had their automobiles kept and now the garage bays house a wealth of interesting antiques etc. GQ once named it one of the top 10 coolest bars in the world. It's still tops to us. Good drinks, eclectic folks, and yummy sandwiches makes for a great venue! Check it out!

The Garage is another Birmingham staple for me. I found this place while playing at The Nick years ago. It is nestled in a mostly residential area and the parking is limited but it is well worth the small inconvenience. The bar dominates the room after entering so if you prefer the dining experience I recommend heading to the back where you can order the best sandwiches I have had in the Ham! The Fritz is only for the brave of heart but if you bring your appetite it is possible to finish of this Sammy with everything possible loaded between two slices of bread. The wonderful part is that you make your own sandwich from a vast selection of breads, meats and veggies. We have turkey, kraut, cheese with thousand isles dressing. Always the best! Oh and try to sit out back! During the blooming seasons the ambiance feels like you are in a hidden garden.

Fantastic local bar. Sandwiches were absolutely great. The bar itself was great with a really cool outside area. I'm pretty sure they don't get many British tourists passing through but found place extremely friendly and relaxed. It was so good we went back for a few more drinks. If you're in the area I highly recommend definitely would return if I was ever in birmingham again. a*

This was an incredible lunch experience. The hot sandwiches we got tasted amazing, and the level of customization was very much appreciated. Just as a heads up, the location was absolutely packed when we ate there on a Saturday around 1pm. The restaurant is also cash only, but there is an ATM in the restaurant.

First time visiting since the new owners took over. Great experience. I was standing in line to order a sandwich and noticed that the staff seemed to know the guy behind me. So I assumed he was a regular and asked him for a recommendation. He said he usually orders the freestyle; which gives complete discretion to the chef. I ordered it and it was fantastic. Full of items I would never have put together. Also had one of the best martinis I have had in a long time.

I visited here with a friend today after she said she was craving a sandwich, and it did not disappoint! I got a simple BLT on white bread and it was fantastic! The staff were willing to answer all our questions and atmosphere there is so relaxing too. The set up was a little confusing: you order drinks only at the bar, you order food around the pillar at the kitchen, and then they’ll bring your order out to whatever table you sit at. CASH ONLY!!! They have an ATM.
